Being gluten-free and choosing a cocktail or liquor can be a tricky thing. You’d think that most hard alcohol would be a safe bet. But … they’re kinda not, not even vodka. But, as demand for gluten-free eats and drinks has increased, companies have responded. And, guys, it’s been music to my ears.
In fact, one of my fave vodkas — Stoli — just released a gluten-free version this past spring. And while I’m just now learning about it, I’m making up for lost time by using it in this fabulous Caramel Apple Cider Sangria recipe that Stoli sent me to try (along with a bottle to sample, of course).
Made of naturally gluten-free corn (88 percent) and buckwheat (12 percent), this smooth and crisp vodka comes from the fields in the Tambov region of Russia. And it works beautifully in a fall cider cocktail like this one.
I know the recipe may seem odd at first — vodka and white wine … together? But believe me. The mix of those two with the cider, plus the apples and caramel? Well, it’s just fall perfection. Whip up a batch on the stove, let it simmer and sip on it (responsibly) with some friends!

- 1 750ml bottle of pinot grigio
- 1 cup Stoli Gluten Free
- 6 cups apple cider
- 2 medium apples cored and chopped
- 1 teaspoon of caramel syrup
- Mix all together in a large pot over low heat. Simmer for 10 to 20 minutes, then enjoy with friends!
Who ever said sangria was just a summer drink? Not I! Although I do love ALL kinds of sangria. —Jenn
