I remember Earth Day being a HUGE deal when I was a kid. We were assigned projects that made us aware of the various environmental issues currently at play, and we were encouraged to go home and discuss those issue with our families so we could all figure out small ways to change up our routines and make a little less of an environmental impact.
One of the big lessons for me was the fact that a plant-based diet isn’t just good for our bodies, but it’s also good for the environment. (And yes, despite numerous misinterpretations of a recent study, that still holds true.) Since a meat-free diet is my preference already, opting for vegan ingredients on a regular basis is a really easy step for me to take. And in a lot of cases, it can be super simple for omnivores, too! I’m not necessarily suggesting you swap out your grilled chicken breast for a few cubes of tofu (unless you want to), but adding in a vegan breakfast smoothie? You can so do that.
